I just started to wonder about the pink bakery boxes myself. I grew up in southern california where the boxes were and still are all pink. Don't think it has a thing to do with Hollywood; they would pick white with a pretty bow. To me the pink is too pink, but, after all these years I would miss them. I am very cureous who started this though...i thought maybe it started in europe where pastries are treasures...i don't know...but I'm finding out. Its not Hollywood though

Hey, Paula. I've heard that, too (about the pink). But where food is concerned, I heard that green makes people hungry and red makes people...um...not hungry. That's why I tend to use green tablecloths when I have guests (except at Christmas). With all the food I cook, my guests had better get REALLY hungry. :-)

Pink is a calming color. In a lot of juvenile detention centers, they have what the kids call "nurseries". It is a totally pink room (usually padded) where kids on tantrums (ie violent) streaks are put. It not only can chill out the mind, it also can create muscle weakness as it does so.

Orange is the color to stimulate an appetite.

I'm with Andi in that I'd be more drawn toward goodies in a blue box or even white. But my brain has been well trained by Hollywood and I'd automatically know the pink box has the pastry.

WOOO! Mystery solved! I think blue would be a much more attractive color for a pastry box, though I don't mind white. Black with gold embossing might be kinda purty, too. Hmm. Whew. Now I, too, can sleep. Thanks! :)
